MajorPhilosophy - Ethics

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in philosophy with a concentration in ethics will help you develop the knowledge and skills needed to notice and prevent ethical problems in the real world, as well as mitigate and manage existing ones. The study of ethics involves theoretical context, methods for advocating, and resources to counter common biases and fallacies. You'll develop your skills in situational awareness, conceptual analysis, ethical evaluation and problem solving, as well as more general critical reasoning, textual analysis, and analytical writing. These skills will prepare you for careers or graduate studies in many areas, from law and teaching to business and politics.

Curriculum

To complete the philosophy major, you'll take a minimum of 27 credit hours in philosophy, 15 of which must be in courses numbered 300 and above. Your departmental advisor will help you choose courses that fit your academic interests and career goals.

Concentrations in philosophy, such as the concentration in ethics, can be earned whether philosophy is your first or second major. As a double major, a BA in philosophy with an ethics concentration enriches and adds distinction to many other degrees such as psychology, pre-med, business, and engineering
