Steve Farmer is a man of passion. A passion for success not only for himself, but for those around him. After receiving his Ph.D. in business, he has gone on to become chair of the Department of Management and an assistant professor of management at the Barton School of Business. In 2004, he was awarded the Barton Distinguished Chair in Business.
Currently, he's using this position to advance the field of research at the business school and is able to hire research and graduate assistants, so he can work on bigger, long-term projects. "I consider myself a conduit," Steve said, "I'm an instrument or tool to help people, businesses and organizations gain knowledge."
Another benefit of receiving the distinguished chair is the confidence in which the university has instilled in him. "It was good to know how WSU felt about me. They communicated to me that I was someone they trusted in a leadership position. WSU strives for excellence and that's where I want to be," Steve said, "at a place that strives for excellence."
