Dear Shocker family member:
This past year has been the brightest for the WSU Foundation thanks to your support. The money you have gifted is the largest amount since the establishment of the Foundation – and an increase of nearly 14 percent over the last fiscal year. We are proud of the amount of support we are able to provide to benefit the campus. Of the $3.3 million in endowed gifts, nearly 70 percent goes toward scholarships, fellowships and faculty and staff support. This demonstrates your partnership with us to make the future of WSU shine.
Our cause to celebrate the past year is two-fold. In closing the books on the second year of the three-year “We are Wichita State” fundraising campaign, we were so pleased to raise more than 75 percent of our goal of $35 million. More than 100 new funds were opened for scholarships, fellowships, professorships and other faculty and staff support. Thank you for helping us recruit new Shockers, provide enhanced education for current Shockers and retain our quality professors with improved working environments. Many colleges still need your assistance so help keep our momentum going through the coming year.
With the growth the Foundation continues to experience, it was recognized that effective management now requires a leader’s full attention. In addition to increases in the number of donors and their gifts, we have seen growth in financial requirements and management of funds. This position will concentrate on the efforts toward continuing this growth.
And, as it is time to change board chairs, we celebrate our successes and look forward to new challenges and achievements.
