Wichita State University’s Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) was a college access program that was federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education designed to help students in foster care prepare for post-secondary education.

KKGU offered a variety of free services to participants that helped them gear up for a postsecondary education.

In September of 2023, KKGU finished the last year of federal funding for the 2015-2023 grant cycle. No services are provided at this time. However, the scholarship is still available for students who participated in GEAR UP. The Scholarship application is available at kkgu.org
