Catch Mainstage opener

The new musical theater program at WSU made its debut last evening with the show "Babes in Arms," the opening production of the Mainstage Theatre season.

The production of Rodgers and Hart's '30s musical continues with performances tonight (Oct. 23) through Sunday, Oct. 25, in Wilner Auditorium. Some famous songs from the show include the title song "Babes in Arms," "The Lady Is a Tramp" and "My Funny Valentine." Musical director Linda Starkey and choreographer Terri McWilliams have cooked up some hot production numbers, dreamy ballads and good old-fashioned fun. New lighting and sound systems in Wilner will enhance the visual and auditory elements.

Leroy Clark, chair, School of Performing Arts, directs.

"Babes in Arms" is the quintessential "Hey, kids, let's put on a show!" musical. In spite of complications, of course, "the show must go on."

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23-24 and 2 p.m. Oct. 25. Tickets are $8 general public, $6 for seniors and non-WSU students, $4 WSU faculty, staff and students with current ID. Call ext. 3233 for reservations.
