OF NOTE Publications Jeffrey Fernandez, professor, industrial and manufacturing engineering, and National Institute for Aviation Research fellow, recently published a book, "Applied Occupational Ergonomics," co-authored by Robert Marley, associate dean of engineering at Montana State University and a doctoral graduate of the IMFgE department. J. David McDonald, associate professor, biological sciences, co-authored an article published as a special supplement to the August edition of the Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease. The article, "Phenylketonuria: From Biochemistry to Treatment," summarizes the proceedings of a roundtable organized by the OASI Institute in Tronia, Italy, which provides treatment and research into mental retardation in children. Michael Palmiotto, associate professor of criminal justice, Hugo Wall School of Urban and Public Affairs, recently had an article, "A Study of Residents" Perception of Fear of Crime In Public Housing,” published in The Justice Professional. Awards Ramesh Agarwal, Bloomfield Distinguished Professor of Aerospace Engineering and NIAR executive director, has received a $10,000 1998 Higuchi/Endowment Research Achievement Award from the University of Kansas. He is the first WSU faculty member to receive this honor available to all regents schools. In addition to pioneering work in the engineering field, Agarwal successfully developed the Aircraft Design and Manufacturing Research Center which brings researchers from WSU, KU, Kansas State University and Pittsburg State University together to address the needs of the aviation industry, which along with Kansas Technology Corp., financially supports this activity. |
