OF NOTE Publications Bill Jarnagin, Allen, Gibbs & Houlik Faculty Fellow in Accountancy, is the author of a book, “U.S. Master GAAP Guide,” published this year by CCH Inc. Michael Palmiotto, associate professor of criminal justice, Hugo Wall School of Urban and Public Affairs, recently had an article, “The 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act: An Evaluation,” published in The Justice Professional.
Presentations Rob Gibson, instructional designer, Media Resources Center, and Mary McHugh, associate professor, School of Nursing, presented the workshop “Web Course Design and Development: A How-To Approach” to the American Medical Informatics Association in Orlando, Fla., recently.
Awards Nancy McKellar, associate professor, administration, counseling, educational and school psychology, has been named Kansas School Psychologist of the Year by the Kansas Association of School Psychologists. The Media Resources Center was given a “Best of 1998” award for the most outstanding media Website in the nation during the annual conference of the Consortium of College and University Media Centers in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Grants Louis Medvene, associate professor, psychology, received $4,000 from the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund to support the evaluation of a project encouraging in-depth discussion of end-of-life issues in the Wichita faith community. Greg Meissen, professor, psychology, and executive director, Self-Help Network of Kansas, received $549,984 from the Kansas Health Foundation for the project “Campaign to Reduce High Risk Drinking on College Campuses.” James Snyder, professor, psychology, received $521,564 from the Department of Health and Human Services/National Institutes of Health for the project “Child Conduct Problems: Competing Socialization Models.”
