Swap old IDEAs for new New material is available for a system that provides student feedback in courses. The old forms for the Instructional Development and Effectiveness Assessment are no longer valid, according to Gayle Veltman with the Counseling and Testing Center. Those with the old IDEA forms should return them to Veltman at box 91 for replacement. With the IDEA system, students self-rate their motivation, effort and attitude; students rate the progress of course objectives; and feedback is provided on 20 major teaching behaviors in the areas of communicating content and purpose, involving students, exams, and creating enthusiasm. Teaching faculty also get a diagnostic summary which identifies teaching strengths and suggests areas needing improvements. Materials are sent out mid-semester and the results are returned to instructors after the semester ends. For more information on IDEA, contact Veltman, ext. 3440.
