Women’s History Month lecture deals with Vietnam War

The Center for Women’s Studies will recognize National Women’s History Month with a lecture by Kansas State faculty member Michele Janette at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, in 107 Devlin Hall.

Janette will talk about "What Happens When a Vietnamese Woman Tells Us About the Vietnam War: Lan Cao’s ‘Monkey Bridge.’" "Monkey Bridge," published in 1997, is a novel about the experiences of Vietnamese refugees in the United States.

Janette is assistant professor of English and director of the KSU English department’s program in cultural studies. She’s currently working on an anthology of Vietnamese American literature in English, a project for which she recently received a Rockefeller Humanities Fellowship. She specializes in contemporary American literature and Asian-American literature.

March is National Women’s History Month.
