Kickin’ butts

President Beggs takes a swing at a cigarette vending machine with a sledgehammer during Kick Butts Day last week on campus. The event, during which smokers were asked to "toss a pack to give it a whack," was sponsored by the Wichita-Sedgwick County Health Department. This was the first year WSU participated in Kick Butts Day. Beggs, a nonsmoker, had encouraged the WSU community to not smoke on campus for the entire day April 3. Vice President for Student Affairs Ron Kopita, also a nonsmoker, joined Beggs in whacking the vending machine.
