Obituaries

Anita Hawes, 77, of Wichita, died March 28. Ms. Hawes had served as a librarian from January 1972 to June 1975. Cochran Mortuary handled arrangements.

Joann Kamas, 67, of Wichita, died March 26 while visiting Amman, Jordan. Ms. Kamas was interim director with the Alumni Association in 1978, 1983 and 1984 and most recently was the executive director of the Wichita Area Girl Scout Council. She is survived by daughters Lexi Tehven of Nigeria and Kacy Colbern of Bentonville, Ark., sons Frank of Wichita and John of Sedona, Ariz., and seven grandchildren. Memorials have been established with the Joann Kamas Girl Scout Endowment Fund and St. Mary Orthodox Church.
