"T-w what?"

"(sigh) T-w-s-u-v-m ..."

But all of that is going to change in the next few months, and soon we’ll all be e-mailing from the new server, wichita.edu...

The future that wasn’t

The 1960s movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" depicted a future with humans in space, highly advanced computers and more. Now that the year 2001 is here, Lake Afton Public Observatory staff will offer a look at some of the planetary objects featured in the movie and talk about the future that wasn’t in a new program, "The Lost Future of 2001," 7:30-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 2-3 and 9-10.

Find out about new regulations

The process of hiring regular and work-study students changed effective Jan. 2. To inform you of the new process, the Office of Human Resources has been offering one-hour workshops. The remaining workshops are 9-10 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. Jan. 18 and 23. Limited seating is available. E-mail here to sign up.

Share some leave

Sick and vacation leave hours are still needed for the shared leave program. The program is a paid leave program, similar to short-term disability to allow state employees to transfer leave to qualifying employees. Classified employees may donate sick leave if they will have a balance of at least 480 hours after donation and vacation leave if they will have a balance of at least 80 hours. They may also donate unused sick leave when leaving state employment. Faculty and unclassified staff cannot donate vacation leave but may donate 80 hours of sick leave in a fiscal year, if they have a balance of at least 480 hours after donation. For more information, call Frankie Brown, 978-3540.
