Here’s a wake-up call

Before you reach for another cup of coffee to help you stay awake because you didn’t get a good night’s rest, put this lunchtime talk on your calendar.

Sleep specialist Thomas Bloxham will give a free, one-hour session on "The Sleeping Shakedown" at WSU Downtown noon-1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

Bloxham, from Wichita’s Sleep Medicine Center of Kansas, will talk about why sleep is important and what happens to your body, your personal and professional life and to those around you when you’re running low on zzz’s.

Reservations are suggested because of limited seating. Call 978-6555. Participants may bring their lunch.

This is first talk in this spring’s Lunch & Learn Series, a popular free, lunchtime series that has been offered at WSU Downtown, 127 N. Market, since 1995.

Other sessions are "Simple Solutions for the Overstressed" by WSU Downtown director Kathy Rager, March 2, and "Smart Investing and Tax Tips" by WSU associate professor of finance Rick LeCompte, April 6.
