Bonnie
Bing brings fashion fun (and sense) to alumni breakfast
Bonnie
Bing Honeyman, who covers fashion for The Wichita Eagle, will be
the second of six distinguished alumni speakers in the WSU Alumni
Association's 2001-02 breakfast lecture series.
Her
address is slated for 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Olive
Tree Banquet Hall, 2949 N. Rock Road. The breakfast is $15 per person.
A staff
writer for The Eagle since 1980, Bing writes feature stories and
weekly fashion and social columns for the newspaper. She also coordinates
and writes seasonal fashion sections.
Yet
fashion sense isn't all she is renowned for. Her irreverent wit
and flamboyant style of storytelling have made her a favorite for
emcee duties and other stage performances in the Wichita area.
And
she has proven a tireless volunteer for many community and university
organizations, including Roots & Wings, the Wichita/Sedgwick
County Historical Museum, the Junior League of Wichita, the Wichita
Ballet Theatre, the Assistance League of Wichita, the WSU National
Advisory Council and the WSU Alumni Association.
Bing
earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in physical education
in 1970 and 1976. For six and a half years she was a physical education
teacher at Pleasant Valley Junior High and, for four years, an assistant
athletic director in women's athletics at WSU before changing her
professional focus to the world of fashion.
During
her breakfast talk, Bing is sure to have even a committed anti-fashion
plate interested in hearing - and sometimes laughing - about the
ups and downs in
fashion.
Upcoming
speakers are Darren Dreifort, Terri Moses, Deametrice Eyster and
Dan Phillips.
