New lecture series starts next year

The Division of Academic Affairs and Research has established the Wichita Lyceum, a distinguished scholar lecture series, with plans for the first scholar to be on campus next year.

The lecture series will give students, faculty, staff and the community an opportunity to interact with nationally known scholars in different fields.

During weeklong visits, the scholars will conduct small group discussions, public lectures and other activities as requested by hosting departments.

Visiting scholars will be selected through a nomination process once a year, according to Robert Kindrick, vice president for academic affairs and research and the Lyceum developer.

All teaching professionals were mailed information last month on nominating visiting scholars for next year.

The series may get under way this spring or next fall.
