The ResearchChannel joins WSU-TV lineup

By Joe Kleinsasser

The value of research in our lives is unmistakable in such areas as health, medicine and business. Television viewers in the Wichita area can see firsthand the gains being made through research.

WSU-TV, on Cox Cable channel 13, incorporated the ResearchChannel into much of its daily programming this week. The ResearchChannel replaces some of the programming currently provided by Bloomberg TV.

The ResearchChannel was founded by leading research universities with the goal of communicating research information more widely to the public. It broadcasts video materials, including symposia, panels and lectures that engage the public in the conversations, developments, realities and products of university and corporate research.

ResearchChannel programming regularly features arts, language and literature; business; computer science and technology; life and physical sciences; medicine and health; and social, political economic and cultural science news. Major research reports and conferences also are aired.

Bloomberg TV will be available on WSU-TV from 7 a.m. to noon weekdays through March 1. Cox Digital Cable will continue to provide Bloomberg TV full time. The ResearchChannel airs on WSU-TV from noon to 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays. Local programming will be broadcast from 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays.

On the weekends, the ResearchChannel will broadcast on WSU-TV from 1 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. Local programming will air from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and ResearchChannel programming will resume at 9 p.m. Sunday night and continue until 7 a.m. Monday.
