Artists
guilds sell work during holiday sale
One-of-a-kind
pots, bowls, planters, platters, mugs, vases and more will be for
sale at the popular annual Potters Guild holiday sale and
exhibit Dec. 5-7 in the McKnight Art Center atrium. The sale will
feature the works of faculty and student guild members.
Ornaments
made by the Decorative Arts Guild will be sold during the same time
at the Ulrich Museum. The ornaments can be seen on a holiday tree
display in the Ulrich Museum Nov. 29-Dec. 9, during the museum hours
of noon-5 p.m. weekends and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
The
sale hours are 5-9 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 5; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday-Friday,
Dec. 6-7. Food will be available at the Wednesday evening opening.
This
year marks the 25th time WSU has hosted the ceramics sale, which
includes functional and decorative art.
Profits
from the sale of David Hiltners work will go toward a summer
student scholarship. The student will use the money to travel to
a summer program of his or her choice. Hiltner is assistant professor
and head of the ceramics department.
The
price range for most of the pottery will be about $10 to $100. Forty
percent of the money raised goes to the Potters Guild. Those
funds will pay for visiting artists and conferences for students.
The artists get the remainder of the money from the sales.
Proceeds
from the ornament sale will support the Decorative Arts Guild
and Ulrich Museum programs.
