Search
under way for dean of students
The
search for WSUs new dean of students started earlier this
month, with hopes of having a new dean named by July 1.
Lori
Reesor resigned as dean of students this past summer to become assistant
dean in the University of Missouri-Kansas Citys education
college.
The
dean of students is responsible for student life and related student
development programs and services, overseeing career services, the
Child Development Center, the Heskett Center, Housing and Residence
Life and the Office of Student Development and Multicultural Affairs.
The dean also handles all student disciplinary matters and is an
adviser to the Student Government Association.
Jim
Kelley, dean of operations and personnel for the Division of Student
Affairs, chairs the nine-member search committee. Members are students
Tarsha Bailey and John Bulcock, faculty members Steven Brady and
Sharon Iorio, student affairs staff members Larry Ramos and Susan
Ratz, Police Chief Charles Rummery and financial aid staff member
Treva Sperlazza.
The
committee expects to bring three candidates to campus for interviews
in February. It will make its hiring recommendation to Vice President
for Student Affairs Ron Kopita.
