‘Three Women Walking’ take trip to Missouri ‘spa’

The "Three Women Walking" are going to get their dresses done as part of an ongoing conservation project of the Ulrich Museum.

A conservation company removed three well-known sculptures from campus Friday, Jan. 28:"Three Women Walking" by Francisco Zuniga, located east of the Rhatigan Student Center; "Mouton Variation" by Kenneth Armitage, located south of Wallace Hall; and "Happy Mother" by Chaim Gross, which was in the museum’s vault. The three sculptures are expected to return to campus in the spring.

In addition to being cleaned, restoration of the sculptures will include such repairs or maintenance as new coats of patina, recasting and the removal of bronze rot.

Russell-Marti Conservators Service Inc. of California, Mo., will repair 13 sculptures during the next 18 months.
