Teach

Slots
are still available for faculty interested in teaching in the Netherlands
this fall, and applications are also available for teaching in Maastricht
during spring semester 2003.
As
a new member of the Maastricht Center for Transatlantic Studies
consortium, WSU can send faculty abroad to teach at Teikyo (pronounced
TAY-key-yo) University.
Faculty
typically teach for 3 1/2 weeks at the university, but can extend
to include other blocks in the semester. WSU would continue to pay
the salary of the faculty member, with approval from the department
chair and college dean, while the consortium provides housing, board
and office space. WSU pays the travel costs, as well.
Faculty
in the humanities, social sciences and business fields are particularly
sought-after, "but theyre receptive to interest in any
field," says Michael Philson, WSUs new executive director
of international education.
The
teaching blocks available for fall 2002 and spring 2003 are Aug.
28-Sept. 20, Sept. 25-Oct. 18; Oct. 30-Nov. 22; Nov. 27-Dec. 20;
Feb. 5-28; March 5-28; April 9-May 2; and May 7-30.
Eighteen
universities, primarily from the United States, comprise the consortium,
which started offering teach abroad opportunities in spring 1998.
WSU joined the consortium last year.
For
more information on the consortium or to download an application,
go to www.cmsu.edu/mcts.
Faculty can also contact their department chair or Philson at 978-6657
or mike.philson@wichita.edu.
