NBC’s Soledad O’Brien will visit WSU

NBC’s "Weekend Today" co-anchor Soledad O’Brien will be at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3. She will give an insider’s look behind the scenes of national news stories. The Forum Board lecture is free and open to the public.

O’Brien has covered a number of major, breaking news stories for both NBC and MSNBC, including the special coverage of John F. Kennedy Jr.’s plane crash, the high school shootings in Littleton, Colo., and Springfield, Ore., and the fatal Alabama tornadoes. She also traveled to Cuba to cover Pope John Paul II’s historic visit in 1998.

In addition to her responsibilities at "Weekend Today," O’Brien anchors MSNBC’s "Morning Blend," a two-hour news talk show on weekends, and reports for "NBC Nightly News" during the weekday and weekend editions. She also contributes to MSNBC.com and is the contributing technology editor for "USA Weekend Magazine."

O’Brien is part of The Digital Heroes Campaign, an innovative, new e-mentoring program that is partnering some of America’s most prominent individuals with young people in underserved communities.
