Heskett estate nets estimated $3.4 million

Wichita State University has received nearly all the proceeds from the estate of Herschel "Dene" Heskett (’35), who died in November 1997. A total of $3.4 million is estimated.

A faculty chair in finance will be established with $1.2 million of the estate. The rest of the money will enhance a faculty chair in accounting; fund scholarships in business, general areas, basketball and baseball; enhance a general athletic endowment; benefit the Heskett Center and be placed in the university’s unrestricted fund.

In honor of Heskett’s support, the university named its health and fitness facility the Heskett Center in honor of his parents in 1984. Heskett lived in Grove, Okla., and had at one time owned several finance companies.
