16, No. 16 April 27, 2000 Issue Commencement is two-day event By Nikki Hansson This spring each academic college will host its own commencement, making commencement a two-day event at WSU in May. The Graduate School kicks off commencement weekend with its ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, in Levitt Arena. The graduate ceremony will include welcomes by alumni speaker Marilyn Pauly, president of Bank of America Kansas, Alumni Association past president Max Hubbard and Board of Regents representative Stephen Clark. There will be a hooding ceremony for masters and doctoral degree candidates, and each graduate will have their name read. The other academic college ceremonies will be on Saturday, May 13, beginning with the 8:30 a.m. ceremonies of Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Levitt Arena and College of Engineering at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex. The 11 a.m. ceremonies are the W. Frank Barton School of Business in Levitt Arena and the College of Education at the complex. The last ceremonies of the day will be at 2 p.m. with the College of Fine Arts in Miller Concert Hall and the College of Health Professions at the complex. At the undergraduate ceremonies, students will have their names read as they walk across the stage. The colleges are working to make each ceremony unique to their students.
