This Week's Briefs
NEWS INSIDE

When’s the next Inside WSU?
This is the last print issue of Inside WSU for the academic year. The last three issues of Inside WSU for the AY will be exclusive online issues only May 7, June 16 and July 14. Deadlines for those issues have been extended to three days prior to publication. Send items to Inside WSU, box 62, or e-mail amy.geiszler-jones@wichita.edu.edu.

Take some holiday time
You have until July 9 to use the half-day of holiday time Gov. Graves gave to state employees at the last hour on Christmas Eve. You’ll have to use the hours as a half-day block and you can’t receive pay for them. Mark the hours as HCT in the “Other leave” code category on your time sheet when using them.

Soaring to the top
If your summer plans in clude air travel you may want to pay attention to who’s flying high in the Airline Quality Rating, a study co-sponsored by WSU’s Barton School of Business. Overall, US Airways ranked first in this year’s AQR after placing last the year before, marketing researcher Dean Headley announced April 19. The rest of the overall ranking was Continental, American, Delta, Southwest, America West, TWA, Alaska, Northwest and United. Among the worst in specific areas: United in handling bags and America West for getting you there on time.

Blocking traffic
All entrances to Perimeter Road will be blocked from 4 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 9, when dozens of kids compete in the Rainbo IronKids Bread Triathlon, a River Festival event.

Sharing your thoughts
Thanks to the folks who returned the readership survey of Inside WSU. I and the rest of the university communications staff will review the results and let you know about any changes we’ll make in response to the survey when Inside WSU publishes its first issue of the 1999-2000 academic year. Some preliminary results indicate that more than two-thirds of the respondents think Inside WSU is a good or excellent source of information about WSU.
