Ulrich Museum readies for Parks
The Ulrich Museum will be closed from May 8-22 to prepare for “Half Past Autumn: The Art of Gordon Parks,” which opens Sunday, May 23, with a special 1-2 p.m. viewing for the WSU community only and a visit by Parks when the exhibition opens to the public from 2-4 p.m. New hours for the museum for the Parks retrospective are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.

Center takes enrollments
Open enrollment for children 6 weeks to 6 years for the summer and fall has begun at the Child Development Center. For details about the fee structure and other information, call ext. 3109.

A successful bash
Due to the success of the Council of University Women’s Scholarship Bash on April 22, combined with the CUW cookbook sales, the group is increasing the number of scholarships awarded to six $1,000 scholarships.

A bloomin’ new Website
The online version of the Sunflower, WSU’s student newspaper, can be found at this new Web address: www.thesunflower.com, starting today (Friday, May 7). The Sunflower resumes publishing June 2 for the summer session.

Perimeter Road temporarily blocked
All entrances to Perimeter Road will be blocked from 4 a.m.-noon Sunday, May 9, when dozens of kids compete in the Rainbo IronKids Bread Triathlon, a River Festival event. The day of the week was incorrect in the April 30 issue of Inside WSU.

Legislature approves, governor signs budget for WSU
Change to classified pay system is put on hold

The Legislature has approved a budget of more than $88 million for WSU, about $3 million less than WSU initially requested but more than $76,000 above what Gov. Graves recommended.

Role and authority of Board of Regents is changed

Business dean’s search narrows to three finalists

The search for a new dean for the W. Frank Barton School of Business has been narrowed to three finalists who will conclude campus visits this week. A fourth candidate may be brought in, according to search committee chair Charles Martin.

Gerald Graham, a longtime distinguished management professor, is returning to full-time teaching July 1 after leading the business college since 1993.

Student affairs VP finalists visit campus

The two finalists for vice president for student affairs had a busy schedule during their campus visit Thursday,

May 6. The interview schedule for Ronald Kopita and Mahmoud Saffari included meetings with the search committee; senate representatives from faculty, unclassified and classified staffs and representatives from the Student Government Association; student affairs representatives; president’s administrative staff; deans; an open forum; and lunch with student leaders.

WSU to offer theater academy, workshop for students
Wichita State University’s School of Performing Arts will offer for the first time a Summer Theatre Academy for high school students. The school is also offering again its summer Musical Theatre workshop, open to high school and college students.
