Hughes ends five-year presidency Dec. 31
Turning around WSU’s declining enrollment was the top priority the Kansas Board of Regents gave to President Eugene Hughes, when he took over as WSU’s president July 1, 1993.

A little licking for postage
It’s going to cost more to stay in touch by mail. Starting Jan. 10, first-class stamps will increase from 32 to 33 cents. Prices will increase for some other postal services, including bulk mail without bar codes.

Inside on break
This is the last issue of Inside WSU for the fall semester. Inside WSU will resume publishing in the spring semester with an exclusive online issue Jan. 22. Items received for Of Note between now and Jan. 12 will appear in that issue. The next print issue will be Jan. 29.

What’s in a name
The department of health and physical education has changed its name to the department of kinesiology and sport studies.

Change in convocation date
The time and date for Honors Convocation has changed to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5. The ceremony, which recognizes honor students and outstanding faculty, will be held at the Metropolitan Complex.

Get cookin’
“Shocking Cuisine,” a cookbook compiled by the Council of University Women to benefit a scholarship fund, is now available for $10. To purchase a copy, call Mary Taggart, ext. 7049.

Be appreciated
As part of its Customer Appreciation Day Dec. 8, the University Bookstore is offering a 30 percent discount on WSU merchandise, general reading books and holiday gifts and cards. Hours are 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
