Seán Curran to perform an eclectic repertoire Seán Curran’s young, contemporary dance company will bring its eclectic repertoire to Miller Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, as part of the College of Fine Arts’ Connoisseur Series. Curran’s company features his signature virtuosity, complex musicality and powerful emotion. With scores ranging from traditional Irish mouth music, early 20th century chamber music and contemporary composers such as Sheila Chandra and Seamus Egan, the company’s repertoire includes group works as well as Curran’s renowned solos. Dance Magazine said of his solos, "Curran demands a lot of himself, and his solos are often rigorously soul-searching." A Time Out New York reviewer said the company’s performances "run an emotional gamut, ranging from humorous to poignant and introspective." Curran was a favorite dancer of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company for 10 years as well as a former dance trouper for "Stomp!" Curran’s own company has received national recognition with its January 1999 performances as part of the Joyce Theater’s Altogether Different Series and its selection for a 1999/2000 National Dance Project touring subsidy. Tickets are $16 with discounts available. Call ext. 3233 for reservations.
