See Shocker hoopsters Oct. 16

Shocker Madness, the traditional first look at the men’s and women’s basketball teams, kicks off with a ball game of another sort Saturday, Oct. 16, in Levitt Arena.

Events on the evening’s roster are a 5 p.m. volleyball game against Southern Illinois, a 6 p.m. carnival on the concourse, and introductions of the basketball teams around 7:30 p.m.

Part of the basketball festivities will include the unveiling of the women’s basketball NIT banner. For the first time ever, Shocker women saw post-season tournament play last season. Other activities include shooting and dunking contests and intrasquad scrimmages.

All events are free. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Kansas Food Bank Warehouse’s Race Against Hunger.

Season tickets for both men’s and women’s basketball are still available. For men’s tickets, faculty/staff prices depend on seat location and start at $155 for section W, rows 24 and up. A 20-admission punch card for women’s games is available until Dec. 15 for $25, half the full price rate. After Dec. 15, faculty/staff can purchase the card for the discounted rate of $30.
