Awards WSU is one of only seven public research doctoral institutions nationwide to receive the 1999 Circle of Excellence Award in Overall Fund-Raising Improvement for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. WSU did not apply for the award, unlike similar competitions. From fiscal years 1996 to 1998, the years covered in the award, WSU’s donor base exploded from 10,964 to 13,960 and the endowment’s market value went from $81.3 million to $113.3 million. WSU’s general education handbook has been selected for a 1999 National Academic Advising Association/American College Testing Certificate of Merit Award. The award recognizes innovative and/or exemplary practices that improve academic advising services. Bob Rozzelle, University Advising Center director, edits the handbook and will accept the award at the NACADA annual conference in Denver in October. The handbook is also online at www.mrc.twsu.edu/uac/index.html.
