Based on unit sales, Cessna Aircraft Co. is the world's largest manufacturer of general aviation airplanes. The company, now a unit of Textron Inc., was founded in 1927 in Wichita and currently employs more than 12,000 in Wichita.

Spirit AeroSystems Inc.
Spirit AeroSystems Inc. is the largest aviation subcontractor in the world. The company was created in Wichita in 2006 when Boeing sold its commercial aviation unit to Onex Corp. It now employs more than 10,000 in the Wichita metropolitan area. Spirit does work for Boeing, Airbus and other major planemakers worldwide.

Hawker Beechcraft
Hawker Beechcraft Corp. is a world-leading manufacturer of business, special-mission and trainer aircraft - designing, marketing and supporting aviation products and services for businesses, governments and individuals worldwide. The company was founded in Wichita in 1932 as Beech Aircraft Corp. and employs more than 9,000 in the U.S. and abroad, including around 7,500 in Wichita.

Cargill Meat Solutions
Based in Wichita, Cargill Meat Solutions Corp. is a leading processor and distributor of fresh beef, pork and turkey, plus cooked and marinated meats. The company represents more than a dozen major brands that are sold in both retail and foodservice channels. The company's headquarters is staffed with more than 800 employees and contains a state-of-the-art research and development center.

Via Christi Health
Via Christi Health is a Catholic, mission-focused, not-for-profit healthcare system of medical centers, senior communities, health plans and outpatient and retail facilities serving Kansas and the surrounding region. VCHS employs around 7,000 in Wichita and more than 9,000 system-wide.

Boeing Defense, Space & Security
A unit of The Boeing Co., Boeing Defense, Space & Security, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., is one of the world's largest space and defense businesses. The company employs around 3,000 at its Wichita facilities.

Bombardier Aerospace
Bombardier Aerospace is the world's third-largest civil aircraft manufacturer. In 2006, Bombardier's industry-leading Learjet, Challenger and Global business jet families helped the company become the recognized leader in the business aircraft market. Bombardier Aerospace employs more than 2,500 in Wichita including more than 300 technicians and specialists at their high-tech Business Aircraft Service Center.

Koch Industries Inc.
Based in Wichita, Koch Industries, Inc. owns a diverse group of companies involved in petroleum refining and chemicals. With more than $100 billion in revenues, Koch Industries is the largest private company in America according to Forbes magazine. The company employs approximately 80,000 worldwide, including 2,200 employees at the headquarters in Wichita.

Wesley Medical Center
Founded in 1912 by a regional organization of the Methodist Church, Wesley Medical Center is an acute-care center licensed for 760 beds and 102 bassinets. The medical staff of 700 physicians and 3,000 employees provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for patients from throughout Kansas and northern Oklahoma. Wesley has been an HCA facility since 1985 and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

York International
York International, a Johnson Controls Co., is an independent supplier of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration products. An acquisition by Johnson Controls in 2005 formed the largest global provider of integrated products, systems and services in the buildings market. The company employs 1,000 in its two offices in Wichita.

Wichita Clinic PA
With over 160 doctors and 40 specialties, Wichita Clinic is the state's largest physician-owned multi-specialty practice and is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Owned and operated by its doctors, Wichita Clinic presently has a staff of around 1,100 in eleven locations throughout Sedgwick, Harvey and Butler counties. More than half a million patient visits were made to Wichita Clinic in 2007.

The Coleman Co.
The Coleman Co. Inc. is a worldwide leader in the outdoor recreation industry, providing products for a wide array of markets, including family and extreme camping, backyard recreation, hiking and tailgating. Headquartered in Wichita, where founder W.C. Coleman began manufacturing lanterns in 1902, the company employs nearly 1,000 in Wichita.

T-Mobile USA is a national provider of wireless voice, messaging and data services capable of reaching over 268 million Americans. The company employs 36,000 people worldwide, including 850 employees at its Wichita call center.

Intrust Bank
Wichita-based Intrust Bank is the area's largest bank based on market share, with more than $2 billion in deposits. Founded in Wichita in 1876, it now employs more than 800 people at its 30 offices in the Wichita area.

Ranking 10th among the 2008 Fortune 500, AT&T is the largest communications holding company in the world by revenue. AT&T Inc. is the largest telecommunications provider in Kansas, employing about 2,400 in the state.

Cox Communications
Wichita is headquarters of the Kansas/Arkansas region for Cox Communications, a multi-service broadband communications and entertainment company. The company employs more than 900 locally.
