DESCRIPTION:Location: Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Miller Concert Hall\n\nThe first annual Middle School Invitational Orchestra Festival brings to the Wichita State campus six outstanding string ensembles from the Wichita area.  Each orchestra will perform a concert of 2-3 selections, at which point Dr. Mark Laycock, WSU Director of Orchestras, will rehearse the students to help improve such ensemble issues as tone quality, intonation, rhythm, and musicianship. The visiting ensembles will also participate in sectional rehearsals with WSU faculty members and music education students. The WSU Symphony Orchestra will present a brief showcase performance in the early afternoon.
