Stubblefield Society
Location: Blake Hall

Visit the radio station on WSU campus and join its student membership group, the Stubblefield Society, for 89 cents. Get a "starter kit," goodies, local event tickets, and a membership card that allows students into local museums for free.

This event is free to attend and open to the public.

Youth Outreach: WSU Piano Festival
Location: Wiedemann Hall
Doors open a half hour before show time. Box Office is open one hour before show.

The Middle and High School Piano Festival at Wichita State University invites area students to perform for their teachers, friends and family in a supportive setting and receive feedback of their performances from the faculty adjudicators.

Students enjoy the experience of playing on a Steinway concert grand and the acoustical ambiance of Wiedemann Hall. The adjudicators are all professional performers and teachers and are known for their skilled and sensitive written critiques of the students' style, technique and overall preparation.

Admission is free.
Open to the public.

Service in the City: MLK Day
Location: Kansas African American Museum, 601 N Water St, Wichita, KS 67203

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is recognized as a National Service Day. This year WSU will collaborate with the Kansas African American Museum to complete a service project for the homeless and those in need. Volunteers will create and craft blankets for the homeless after the MLK day parade.

Open to the public.

Men's Basketball vs. Indiana State

General admission tickets for adults are $22.
Reserved seats are available for $25 or $27, depending on seating choice.
Student guest seats are $12.

Astronomy: Discovering Stellar Secrets
2-day event: 1/17/2014 - 1/18/2014
Location: Lake Afton Observatory

Ever wondered how astronomers find out how hot, massive or big a star is or what it is made of?

Visit the Observatory to look through the big telescope at a gas giant planet, the spectrum of a bright star, a multiple star system, clusters of stars and glowing clouds of gas as we discuss how the secrets of stars are revealed.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 are admitted free. Special family rate is $15.00 for two parents and their immediate minor children or grandchildren.

Directions: The observatory is located approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Wichita on MacArthur Road at 247th Street West in Lake Afton County Park. It is immediately north of the lake, just off MacArthur Road. Lake Afton can be reached by any of the following routes: west from Wichita on U.S. 54 to the Lake Afton sign at Viola Road three miles past Goddard, then three miles south and one mile east; or southwest on K-42, seven miles to Schulte and nine miles west on MacArthur.
