Theatre Mainstage Series Presents: MedeaWSU director Bret Jones brings you Euripides' "Medea", the classic Greek play based on the myth of Jason of the Argonauts and his wife Medea. The story is of Medea's revenge against her husband who is abandoning her and her children for another woman. The dramatic ending is still a subject of discussion and conflict for play-goers today. Rated PG-13.

details... Guest Artist Recital: Linda Holzer, PianoLooking for some musical entertainment to brighten your day? Linda Holzer, an esteemed member of the music faculty at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, will perform a solo piano recital on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 3:00 p.m. in Wiedemann Hall at Wichita State University.
There will be something for everyone: the Baroque majesty of Scarlatti and Bach, poetic masterpieces by Debussy, Chopin and Rachmaninoff and a contemporary selection by award-winning Chinese composer Tan Dun, famous for his film score to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
An active soloist and chamber musician, Dr. Holzer has been heard in concert in more than 20 states, including at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and New York Public Radio Station WNYC-FM, as well as abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Palffy Palace in Bratislava, Slovakia and the Landstrasse Gymnasium in Vienna, Austria.
She was named College Teacher of the Year by the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association in 2001. In addition, she has presented numerous workshops and master classes, and serves as an adjudicator at a wide range of festivals and competitions. Next May she travels to mainland China for concerts.
In addition Dr. Holzer will give a lecture titled “Pathways to Musical Entrepreneurship” on Monday, Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in room B203 of Duerksen Fine Arts Center at WSU.
