Exhibition: Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention

"Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention" is an exhibition of the works of more than 40 international artists in a wide range of media. Harnessing technology and inspired by nature's amazing design concepts, the show's innovative, eye-capturing art helps us understand and appreciate the life-or-death interdependence between the 10-20 million species on earth, including humans and the quality of the environment we share.

Faculty Artist Series Presents: Alla Aranovskaya, violin
Location: Wiedemann Hall

This program entitled "Music and the Prague" will include composers who lived in Prague or love the city and includes works by Mozart, Dvorak, De Falla, Drdla and F. Kreisler.

Alla Aranovskaya is an assistant professor at WSU's College of Fine Arts. She was born in St. Petersburg (then Leningrad), Russia. She started to play piano when she was 2-and-a-half-years old and violin at the age of six. Aranovskaya graduated from the specialized Rimsky-Korsakov Music College in 1977. In 1985 she graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, receiving her master's degree in 1987 and her Doctorate of Music in 1989. She was the winner of the All-Russia Solo Violin Competition in 1985. From 1987 until 2001 she was professor of violin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Russia. Aranovskaya was a faculty member of the Oberlin Conservatory from 1997 to 2003. She has been a jury member of several major competitions including the 2004 Melbourne, Australia, International Chamber Music Competition.
