Workshop: Quick Start Business Planning

Using a simple narrative template and a simple cash flow template, you will learn how to develop the key elements of your business plan. You will be able to use the business plan you develop with these templates as a basis for your final business plan.

Exhibition: Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention

"Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention" is an exhibition of the works of more than 40 international artists in a wide range of media. Harnessing technology and inspired by nature's amazing design concepts, the show's innovative, eye-capturing art helps us understand and appreciate the life-or-death interdependence between the 10-20 million species on earth, including humans and the quality of the environment we share.

This session will discuss Wendy Belcher's (2009) strategy for getting your next journal article finished quickly and successfully. Free Concert: Wednesdays in Wiedemann with Lynne Davis
Location: Wiedemann Hall

You are invited to spend a thrilling 45 minutes with Professor Lynne Davis and the great Marcussen organ in Wiedemann Hall. Davis is a noted teacher and the only woman and first American to earn the French "Certificat d'Aptitude de Professeur d'Orgue" in 1994.

After spending more than 35 years in France, she was awarded a major distinction given by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, the "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres." She is a leading international concert organist who created the Wednesdays in Wiedemann series at Wichita State University in 2007.

Admission is free.

WSU Symphony Orchestra presents a Halloween Family Concert
Location: Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Miller Concert Hall

Designed for listeners of all ages, this program features 20th and 21st century music from America, France and Mexico, all connected by a strong narrative underlying each piece. John Williams' "Call of the Champions," the majestic fanfare composed for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, will open the concert.

"Mother Goose Suite," Maurice Ravel's colorful, vivid ballet score based upon the well-loved fairy tales, will also be performed. Mexico is represented by the vibrant Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez. The program includes two popular American selections: Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" and Morton Gould's "American Salute." The members of the orchestra will be dressed in costume for this fun, festive event.

Children in costumes qualify for a free ticket. Please inform the Fine Arts Box Office upon arrival.
