Community Dialogue: "Ism" Wall
Location: Lindquist Hall Lobby

Many of the "Isms" are the result of a lack of understanding of the various cultures in society. Culture is not only about race or ethnicity but is about common characters such as age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability, education, marital and parental status that allow people within a group to have a common identity.

This program is aimed toward raising awareness, abolishing false ideologies, and engaging dialogue on diversity and inclusion among WSU students.

Contact the Office of Multicultural Affairs for more information at 978-3034 or www.wichita.edu/oma.

For more information, call (316) 978-3034 or email oma@wichita.edu.

Faculty Recital: Emily Sternfeld-Dunn, Soprano

Emily Sternfeld-Dunn, soprano, is a strong advocate for new music and unconventional performances of art song and opera. Most recently, Ms. Sternfeld-Dunn was a young artist with the Idaho Washington Symphony. Other roles with H.O.T. include Laetitia in Menottis, "The Old Maid and the Thief" (2009) and Aunt Polly and Susy Harper in "Tom Sawyer" (2010), a new work commissioned by the company. In 2007 Ms. Sternfeld-Dunn sang the role of Madame Alitna from the opera "La Divina" by noted contemporary American Composer Thomas Pasatieri. As an advocate of new music, Ms. Sternfeld-Dunn commissioned a recital of new music by composition students at the Hartt School in April of 2008 and in 2012 has started Muse Alliance, a coalition for Kansas based composers.
