WSU Concert Band with Jazz Combos
Location: Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Miller Concert Hall

The WSU Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Victor Markovich, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in Miller Concert Hall. Selections will include "Undertow" by John Mackey, "Southern Hymn" by Samuel Hazo, and "Ragged Rozey March" by Karl King. Trent Warbis will be conducting "A Longford Legend: A Collection of Irish Street Ballads" by Robert Sheldon, and Jamie Shepherd will conduct "Fortress Variations" by Tim Waters.

The WSU Jazz Combo, under the direction of Craig Owens, will be featured with the Concert Band presenting a guitar trio with Kendall Wohaska, guitar; Seth Carrithers, bass; and Scott Taylor, drums. They will be presenting their renditions of jazz standards along with some original compositions. Having explored avant-garde sounds in the past, they now seem interested in infusing their music with the sound of the blues, which should please the Wichita audience.

Opera and Musical Theatre Series presents:: "She Loves Me"
3-day event: 11/29/2012 - 12/1/2012
Location: Wilner Auditorium

This warm, romantic musical is set in the 1930s where two feuding clerks in a European parfumerie secretly find solace in their anonymous pen pals not realizing they're actually writing each other. Based on Miklos Laszio's "Parfumerie" that inspired "The Shop Around the Corner" and more recently "You've Got Mail," this endearing show with old world elegance and nostalgia remains as universal and relevant as ever in this age of internet romance. (Rating G)

Tickets for this event are $16 with discounts available and they go on sale Nov. 8, 2012. For more information and tickets please call The WSU Fine Arts Box Office at (316) 978-3233.
