Forty Years/Forty Stories Keynote Talk: Dr. Martin H. Bush, founding director, Ulrich Museum of Art
Location: CAC Theater
The 40th anniversary celebration of the Ulrich Museum continues with a dynamic lecture by founding director, Dr. Martin H. Bush.
Persuaded by WSU president Clark Ahlberg to leave his position at Syracuse University, Martin Bush arrived in Wichita in 1971 to serve as Vice President of Academic Resources and director of the Ulrich Museum of Art at WSU. Over the next two decades, Bush made the Ulrich a centerpiece for the arts in Wichita through an aggressive development of the outdoor sculpture collection that now bears his name, and the Ulrich Museum itself.
Dr. Bush will recount highlights of his tenure, his successful pursuit of Joan Miró to create Personnages Oiseaux (Bird People), 1978; and how he came to bring dozens of international art world celebrities to campus.
