Annual Oratorio

Event Date:Thursday, May 09, 2013
Event Time:7:30 PM - 10:00 PM

Location: Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Miller Concert Hall

Join the Wichita State University Concert Chorale, A Cappella Choir and Symphony Orchestra for a performance of W. A. Mozart's final musical statement: his iconic "Requiem," a monumental work shrouded in historical intrigue. Rounding out the program are two 20th century works: Tarik O'Regan's "Tryptich," an exciting and varied exploration of death through a variety of texts that create a progression of grief to joy and Randall Thompson's beloved "The Last Words of David."

Faculty soloists Emily Sternfeld-Dunn, soprano; Deborah Baxter, mezzo-soprano; and Randoph Lacy, tenor, are joined by guest baritone Alan Dunbar for the Mozart. The new WSU Assistant Professor of Choral Music, Michael Hanawalt, conducts the performance.
