Rising Star Showcase: Asiya Korepanova, piano

Event Date:Sunday, October 06, 2013
Event Time:3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Location: Wiedemann Recital Hall

Born in Izhevsk, Udmurtia, near P. Tchaikovsky's birthplace in a family of professional musicians, Asiya Korepanova started playing piano at the age of 4. She gave her first full solo recital on the philharmonic stage at the age of 8 and subsequently appeared with orchestra performing Mozart's Eighth Concerto with cadenza written by herself. She completed her tertiary school education in Moscow Central Music School, graduated with degrees both in piano performance and composition (the composition faculty had been opened there especially for her).

Her performances invariably gain tremendous public success and brilliant critical responses. Asiya will be playing some of the most beautiful piano music Rachmaninoff wrote, followed by the piano transcription of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite," and she ends with Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite," transcribed for piano by the famous Italian pianist Guido Agosti.
