Event Date:Saturday, July 12, 2014
Event Time:11:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Location: Lake Afton Observatory

The astrophotography program will focus on the beautiful ringed planet, Saturn. The observatory features a photography program each month where anyone with a 35mm single-lens reflex camera (a camera with a removable lens) can take celestial photographs using the Observatory's telescope as a giant telephoto lens.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12; children under 6 are admitted free. A special family rate is available for 2 parents and their immediate minor children or grandchildren for $15.

If visitors do not have a 35mm SLR camera they may bring a USB flash drive with them and the staff will help them use the observatory's digital SLR camera to take photos. Photos will then be transferred to the visitor's flash drive.

Please note that for these astrophotography programs, personal SLR cameras must have a manual override and the user should be familiar with using its manual settings such as changing ISO settings and exposure times. A cable release is necessary.
