Set in 1947 when India was on the brink of emancipation from Britain. At the center of this richly dramatic tale is Lenny, an eight-year-old Parsee girl growing up in a wealthy, nonpartisan family. Lenny is cared for by an entourage of friends and relatives, most notably her charming nanny Shanta. These relationships soon crumble as political rifts and vicious bloodshed between Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus tears the country apart.
