Join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary film "Out of Cordoba - Averroes and Maimonides in Their Time and Ours", and an exclusive discussion with the director, Jacob Bender.
Out of Cordoba is a documentary about the legacy of the Spanish city of Cordoba and its meaning for our times. The film explores the dramatic life stories of Averroes and Moses Maimonides, the two leading personalities, a Muslim and a Jew, of medieval Islamic Spain, and the heritage of “convivencia (religious coexistence) of that amazing time.

Filmed in the USA, Spain, Morocco, France, Italy, Egypt, Israel, and Palestine, the film also explores contemporary relations between Muslims, Jews, and Christians, the revolts for human rights in the Middle East, and for justice and peace in Israel/Palestine, and the struggle against religious extremism and xenophobia.

Out of Cordoba has been screened over 60 times at universities, film festivals, mosques, churches, and synagogues around the world, including a special screening at the United Nations.
