Constructivist Counseling for Helping Professionsby Anthony DiLollo, PhD, CCC-SLPWorkers in "helping" professions, such as nursing, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, and school counseling are often faced with the task of helping individuals through times of significant life change. Such changes can be disruptive to an individual's sense of identity. Constructivist therapies focus on individuals' sense of identity, personal experiences of "disorder", and unique abilities to counter "disordered" storylines. In this seminar, constructivist counseling and narrative therapy will be outlined with reference to facilitating and meaningfully integrating significant life changes.
