"Practical Knowledge for the Assessment and Teaching of ESOL Students in Kansas Schools"
Instructor: Robin Morales Cabral, MA, CCC-Slp
Location: 103 Devlin Hall

This workshop is sponsored by the Wichita State University Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (WSUSSLHA) in celebration of Better Hearing and Speech month. Participants will be provided relevant materials, resources, and teaching strategies for serving non-native English speaking students. More significantly, speech language pathologists and child study team members will learn the theoretical principles of second language acquisition; understand the impact of linguistic/educational variables on both primary and secondary language systems; and develop a conceptual framework with which to appropriately interpret findings and maximize the effectiveness of educational instruction to bilingual students.
