Location: Lake Afton Observatory, 20 miles southwest of downtown Wichita at MacArthur Rd. (39th St. S.) and 247th St. W. in Lake Afton County Park. It is immediately north of the lake, just off MacArthur Rd.The Lake Afton Public Observatory and the Kansas Astronomical Observers will host a telescope fair 7:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Observatory. Members of the Kansas Astronomical Observers, the local astronomy club, will be setting up different types of telescopes and be available to discuss their advantages and disadvantages. So, for anyone that is considering buying a telescope as a holiday gift, this is an opportunity to talk to the experts and to see a variety of telescopes in the same place at the same time.The Observatory will also be presenting its regularly scheduled program that evening, Universe of the 1920s – Deep Sky Theme.
