Location: Wiedemann HallYou are invited to spend a thrilling half hour with Professor Lynne Davis and "The Great Marcussen Organ." This will be a special birthday program in honor of Carolyn Chambers. Five WSU faculty will be performing a new piece commissioned by Glen Chambers: "Variations in Search of a Theme" by David Childs. Thirty-one variations in all possible combinations for organ (Lynne Davis), harp (Dean Roush), double bass (Mark Foley), tuba (Phillip Black) and percussion (Andrew Slater). Also to be performed is Jehan Alain's "Litanies," written in homage to Marie-Claire Alain who died on Feb. 26, 2013. Professor Davis is a noted teacher and the only woman and first American to earn the French "Certificat d'Aptitude de Professeur d'Orgue," in 1994. In January 2012, she was awarded a major distinction given by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication: "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres." She is a leading international concert organist who created the Wednesdays in Wiedemann series at WSU in 2007.
