Faculty Artist Series presents Selim Giray, Violin

Join us for the Faculty Artist Series featuring Selim Giray, violin. Selim Giray is currently the Assistant Professor of Violin and Pedagogy at Wichita State University. Previously, Dr. Giray served as the Associate Professor of Violin, Viola and Artistic Director and Conductor of PSU Chamber Orchestra and Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra at Pittsburg State University. In 2012, Dr. Giray made his Carnegie Hall debut and is invited back to perform on January 11, 2014.

Joining Dr. Giray on stage will be mezzo-soprano Jessie Wright Martin. She has performed with Opera Carolina, South East Kansas Symphony, Baton Rouge Symphony, Union Symphony Orchestra, Pensacola Opera, The Ohio Light Opera and Hays Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Martin is currently on the faculty at Wingate University serving as the Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera. Accompanying Dr. Giray will be John O'Brien. In 1989 he was awarded the DMA in accompanying from the University of Southern California. Dr. O'Brien has been on the faculty of East Carolina University since 1985. Dr. O'Brien is Organist/Choirmaster at First Presbyterian Church in Kinston, NC and he is the conductor of the Eastern Youth Orchestra.
