Location: Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Miller Concert HallDvorak's Eighth Symphony and an array of musical theater selections highlight the WSU Summer Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 19, in Miller Concert Hall. The "G Major Symphony" by Czech composer Antonin Dvorak, composed in 1889, is a tuneful, vibrant work whose melodies and amiable spirit seem derived from the Bohemian countryside itself. Faculty artists Emily Sternfeld-Dunn, soprano, and Randolph Lacy, tenor, will perform solos and duets representing three giants of American musical theater: George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. The program will also include Beethoven's dramatic Egmont Overture.Tickets for this event are $7 with discounts available, and they go on sale June 28.
