Tuesday, May 18, 2010

KMUW 89.1 Wichita Public Radio will present a Final Friday concert at 8 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University. The outdoor concert will feature three musical acts: Notes/Scraps, Ryan Windham and Spirit of the Stairs. Admission is free.

All performances will take place outdoors in the new Ulrich plaza, so bring your lawn chair. The concert will move into McKnight Art Center in the event of inclement weather.

Headlining is Spirit of the Stairs, a five-piece instrumental rock band formed in early 2003. Notes/Scraps (Georgia Andersen) has been playing music in and around Kansas for more than 10 years. Ryan Windham has been experimenting and playing with a loop station and integrating guitar on guitar, hand percussion and other electronic devices, playing many live performances at local venues in Wichita.

In addition, the Ulrich galleries, featuring the Ulrich Museum's latest exhibition "Art of Our Time" among others, will be open from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The concert is sponsored by KMUW, Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita State University, BigMention and Aqua Connections. No alcohol permitted.
